RSM 161 Grain Harvester: Innovations at Work

1 June 2020

It sometimes seems that everything that could have been invented in the design of grain harvesters has already been invented and any further improvement is only possible in terms of intellectualisation and robotic automation. But it is true that there is no limit to perfection, and there is always someone who will see the chance to make the next step forward.

This thought embodied in the RSM 161 grain harvester designed by the engineers from Rostselmash. Equipped with a 360 h.p. engine Cummins QSL 8.9, RSM 161 has the performance that is almost 20% higher than that of the machines with similar characteristics, and is much more affordable.

The combine harvester is unrivalled when used for operation in challenging conditions. For example, when harvesting triticale at the middle dough stage with a yield of 30-40 dt/ha with a moisture content of the growing crop of 30-40% (!), it took RSM 161 half an hour to thresh 6.6 t of grain from 2 ha. Just fancy, which other machine could do it? And then, RSM 161 can thresh grain with a mere moisture content of 10% and lower with the same carefulness. You should admit that this is topical when the climate changes and the weather during the harvesting is unpredictable.

The top secret is the Tetra Processor threshing system. Its tools – a huge main cylinder 800 mm in diameter, an intermediate beater, a large separator cylinder 750 mm in diameter, and a rear beater – are spaced as much as possible. The crop material follows a smooth long path, the threshing time increases and there is no damage to grain. A high grain purity is the merit of the OptiFlow 2-stage cleaning system with an area of 7.1 m2 with a patented sieve suspension system.

The RSM 161 combine harvester can be attached to a header weighing up to 4500 kg, and Rostselmash offers a large variety of adapters for harvesting all traditional crops. The available options include: tailing return assessment system, crop material moisture content assessment system; 3D cleaning system; automatic centralised lubrication system; GPS auto-steering system, wide tyres (1050 mm) for the front axle. The combine harvester is available with a full-wheel drive.

In Germany, the machinery made by Rostselmash is supplied and maintained by the company’s official representative RSM Agrartechnik GmbH Rationalstrasse 4a, Melle. The manufacturer’s machines and equipment proved themselves to be good in Saxony, Thuringia, Hessen, Baden Wurttemberg, and North Rhine-Westphalia. This was a stimulus for ROSTSELMASH to expand its dealer network to include 11 centres.

To see the machinery of RostselmasH, visit the showrooms at: Rationalstr. 4 49328 Melle, An der Schwanemühle 2 49324 Melle, Osterkamp 106 49324 Melle. The RSM 161 combine harvester can be purchased with the financial support of Deutsche Leasing.
