Own Rostselmash header for each crop

13 April 2020

Harvesting is a very challenging and critical time. Even minor departures from schedules and quality of work threaten to result  in big losses both in harvesting volumes and in the nutritional value of seeds. That is why for a full-value crop harvesting, whether it be sunflower, cereals or legume crops, it is very important to choose a purpose-designed header. To facilitate the processes and increase profitability of grain legume and oil crop production, there are purpose-designed Rostselmash headers for farmers: CORN STREAM corn cutters, FALCON and ARGUS windrowers, as well as SUN STREAM rowless headers.

Power Stream 500

Power Stream grain header for NOVA combines. Allows you to efficiently harvest the main cereals, and where a rape board is used, rape can be harvested with minimal losses. Available sizes 4/5/6 and 7 m.

The header is equipped with a cutterbar with a planetary drive, which ensures high operating speed. Reel hydraulic drive controls the reel rotation speed, which is synchronized with the combine ground speed.

The following options are available: a stone trap bar for work on stony soils, a wind shield for work on tall crops, a single-point hydraulic coupler to speed up the process of connecting the header to the combine.

FALCON sunflower headers

Using 4, 6, 8 and 12-windrow FALCON headers, the combine can develop speeds of up to 9 km / h. Where crop yield is low and conditions are favourable the speed may be up to 12 km / h. With a yield of 20 dt/ha or more it can harvest up to 9.7 tons over this time.

The use of a conveyor belt on these headers allows to take good care of seed transportation, while high sides of the header reduce losses from self-shedding in the fall of sunflower baskets. Due to the special shape of the input channels between the pickup guards, sunflower baskets lean over the conveyor and the seeds go directly to the belt. As opposed to the vibrating table, the conveyor reduces to a minimum not only direct losses, but also indirect losses associated with seed damage.

For harvesting undersized varieties and fallen plants, the adapter is equipped with the ability to regulate the position of the dividers and the cutting height - up to 600 mm. This option allows the header to very quickly switch over from harvesting short- to tall-growing sunflowers. 70 or 75 cm row spacing modifications are available.

SUN STREAM sunflower rowless header

The main advantage of rowless headers is the ability to move in any direction, regardless of the row spacing. Moreover, this unit is widely used to improve or test new sunflower growing technologies.

The simple and robust design of SUN STREAM headers guarantees long-term and reliable operation, which makes it possible to use them for sunflower harvesting  in any sunflower production region, even where harvest time is missed.

The special design of the dividers contributes to the efficient and soft running into the sunflower material, its division into streams, ensuring at the same time a continuous feed of crop material to the three-blade reel and further to the header auger. The auger evenly delivers crop material to the feeder house of the combine.

A possibility to install a stretching roller reduces the amount of material other than grain falling into the combine TSU, thereby enhancing the quality of the product in the grain tank.

SUN STREAM headers are designed to maximize combine utilization for sunflower harvesting. Due to their lower weight, with the same cutting width as the row headers, they guarantee significantly lower fuel consumption. Simple design ensures ease of use and maintenance. SUN STREAM headers with a 7,8 and 9,2 cutting width are attached to high-performance combines such as ACROS, TORUM and RSM 161. A 12-meter SUN STREAM header is attached to TORUM and RSM 161 combines.

Soya harvesting with a close-cut header

A specific thing about soybeans, as well as other legume crops, is a rather low attachment of beans against the soil surface. For harvesting of such crops, either two-phase technologies are used or purpose-designed headers, since grain headers are capable to ensure minimum possible cutting height of about 10 cm, while lower beans, depending on a variety or hybrid, are attached at a height of 5-7 cm.

Early-ripening, and, therefore, more profitable soybean varieties are characterized by a low location of beans. For their harvesting it is required to ensure the cutting of plants at the lowest possible height.

FLOAT STREAM purpose-designed close-cut headers are designed by taking into account harvesting of all possible varieties as well as fallen plants. The cutting height in them is adjustable within a range from 3 cm. The reel rake tines are made of high-strength plastic to withstand temperature fluctuations of up to -15 ° C and loads - up to 400 kg.

The harvester speed when cutting soybean is also very essential. Depending on the moisture content of the soil during harvesting, as well as contamination and lodging of a harvested soybean hybrid or variety, the average recommended working speed shall be 7 km / h. This allows to carefully cut the plants and ensure the integrity of the beans. In order to prevent damage to seeds, the header is equipped with two contour following mechanisms: a flexible swivel-mounted cutterbar and a flexible bottom formed by a series of spring guards.

Depending on a type of crop, moisture or the degree of soil contamination with stones, the header is adjusted to one of the two modes of operation: with a rigid (for cereal cultivars) or a floating knife (for legume crops).

Corn harvesting in a professional way

ARGUS windrowers for corn harvesting enjoy well-deserved years long recognition of farmers all over the world. 4-, 5-, 6-, 8- and 12-windrow modifications of the unit are designed for harvesting of industrial ripeness corn for food and feed grain, coping with the harvests, both in small farms and large agricultural holdings.

A special design of the stretching rollers and a possibility of adjusting spacing between the stripper plates by means of a hydraulic cylinder or mechanically allow to adapt to the specific features of a hybrid or variety being harvested. The proven reliable design of the chopper, located at the end of the row unit, assists in a uniform cut of the stems, leaving insignificant crop residues on the field, easily processed during further tillage.

The height of the left stubble when working with ARGUS headers does not exceed 15 cm, and the self-sharpening chopper knife grinds the cut corn stubble to fibers no greater than 100 mm. Thus, Rostselmash corn harvesting machines leave small crop residues on the field that are easily processed by disc harrows.

R series ARGUS headers have retained the best features of the previous generation headers, but thanks to a number of technical solutions, possess increased power and reliability. They can work not only on dry and laid corn, but even on tall, wet and foul crops. A comfortable option for controlling the header using the controls of combine, without leaving the cab, allows to significantly reduce the load on the machine operator. Likewise FALCON, this header also works in 70 and 75 cm row spacings.

CORN STREAM, a model of corn headers for new generation high-performance combines, is equipped with a number of options that allow to use it for harvesting of various varieties of corn regardless of agricultural background. Gearboxes with integrated rollers used in the CORN STREAM model allow to actually double the performance of the header.

Yield, moisture levels and varieties of corn significantly affect the quality of harvesting. By a simple adjustment of the rotation speed of the rollers, CORN STREAM headers allows to achieve excellent results in all conditions. The design of the CORN STREAM rollers is optimal for harvesting of both tall-growing varieties and laid or low-growing plants.

CORN STREAM is equipped with a reinforced chopper with an increased speed of knives rotation and a labyrinth seal of the gearbox bearing. Chopper location allows to harvest corncobs at a height of 30 cm  virtually with little to no losses with simultaneous stalks chopping. CORN STREAM headers are available with a cutting width of 6, 8, and 12 windrows.
