New Rostselmash Foragers
For a few years, Rostselmash has been teasing the industry with the promises to start rolling out new foragers. And finally, this year the early test reports for the top of the line prototype, the RSM F 2650 forager, was complemented with the results of the field test carried out on the finished machine at a farm in Kursk Province, Russia.
The test was brief yet interesting. The machine was equipped with a MH 750 (7.5m) drum header. This unit is built specially for coarse-stem crops and can cut both along and across the rows. The yield of the standing corn was estimated at 22,790 kg per hectare. The length of cut was 12.5 mm; kernel processor clearance was 2 mm. By the end of test, the forager had loaded 4 KamAZ trucks as follows:
1. 5 min 10 sec — 13,600 kg;
2. 445 min 5 sec — 10,750 kg;
3. 6 min 53 sec — 14,650 kg;
4. 6 min 35 sec — 14,100 kg.
This is net time rounded up, excluding time for headland turns.
That gives a total of 2,33 hectares cut by the RSM F 2650 and 53,100 kg of silage loaded all in 20 min 39 sec. All this required just 37 litres of fuel (0.7L per ton of silage). The estimated throughput of the forager in these conditions is greater than 154 Mtph.
The only problem with such harvesting speed and fuel economy might be the transport since you will need to carefully estimate the number of trucks considering the haul distance. On the other side, saving harvest time is invaluable.
Series F RSM foragers
Series F of Rostselmash foragers comprises three machines: The RSM F 2650 and RSM F 2550 powered by ОМ 473LA engines in 611 hp and 503 hp versions, respectively, and the RSM F 2450 with ОМ 471LA 448 hp engine. These blocks are 8 to 10% more efficient than the ones used before, besides, they are more robust and can cope with long overloads at 1400 rpm ensuring a stable harvesting process.
The configuration itself contributes greatly to the performance and efficiency of the new foragers.
1.The cutterhead, kernel processor and crop booster are direct-driven from the engine.
2.The crop channel is shaped to create an optimal path for the crop stream with minimum resistance.
3.The heavy cutterhead gives stability to the process in varying load conditions.
4.The ground contour following system attached directly to the feeder with a smaller clearance between it and the header promotes the operation stability under varying load.
It is essential that high performance come together with high product quality which was also achieved by implementing smart engineering solutions.
1.The principle of staged increase in crop speed as it moves from the cutting platform to unloading is well implemented.
2.Compressing the compacted crop with a force of 2600 kg produces a uniform and bundled crop stream for a better cut.
3.The length of cut is incrementally adjustable between 4 and 22 mm.
4.48 knives are arranged in 4 rows in a herringbone pattern with the cut being made slantwise 5.without any crushing.
6.The sliding type kernel processor with rolls rotating at different speeds completely breaks the kernels.
7.The versatile concentrated/diluted inoculant dosing system reduces silage loss by 20% during storage.
8.Knives are available in corn and grass options.
Much thought was given to the ergonomics, ease and speed of work and forager servicing. For one, staying in the cab you can automatically:
1.set the kernel processor and grass chute;
2.sharpen knives, swing in the shearbar;
3.adjust cutterhead bottom clearance as the knives wear;
4.adjust kernel processor clearance.
Besides, the machines are equipped with an automated centralised lubrication system that independently delivers the lubricant to 33 point as and when required. All RSM F foragers come with a quick hitch system (it takes approx. 5 minutes to get the machine ready for operation or transport), a compressor and a receiver, collision prevention device (spout guard).
The machines are equipped with state-of-the-art suspension-mounted Comfort Cab II with improved noise insulation, climate control with a better air circulation, fridge, Adviser III on-board information system provided with 10” color touchscreen display, remote monitoring system. RSM Fs can optionally be equipped with a steering axle drive, unloading video monitoring system. automatic catcher hitch, spout extension (for F 2450 and F 2550).
