Rostselmash Wins Agritechnica Innovation Award 2019
European experts have recognised the innovation. The RSM Night Vision system from Rostselmash, Russia, was listed among the best world developments in the agricultural machinery sector in 2019.
Deutsche Landwirtschafts Gesellschaft (DLG), the organizer of the major international agricultural fair to be held in November, announced the winners of Agritechnica Innovation Award 2019. A total of 40 developments were named, out of which 1 received the golden award, 39 the silver award.
The winners include Rostselmash, a Russian manufacturer. The company received from Agritechnica a silver award for RSM Night Vision, a night vision system for self-propelled farming machines. Unlike the traditional thermal imaging technology, the night vision system from Rostselmash appreciably improves visibility for the operator on sprayers, combines, tractors, thereby increasing machine productivity by 20%.
- Agritechnica Innovation Award is recognised as one of the most important awards in the agricultural machinery sector. For manufacturers, the recognition by the panel of judges is the result of many months of engineering investigations, says Maxim Nakhabo, Marketing Director at Rostselmash.
During the 2019 season, the system passed field trials in fields around Rostov and was highly appreciated by farmers.
Growers will be able to see Rostselmash machines fitted with RSM night vision package at Agritechnica-2019 fair which will open 10 November in Hannover, Germany. You will find Rostselmash in Hall 9 (stand A31b).
Key features and benefits of RSM Night Vision versus existing systems
The common thermal imaging technology only identifies objects that are warmer than the surroundings. But you cannot see features such as overhead power lines, trees, other objects which are often the cause of collision leading to machine breakage during nighttime operations. Operators have to work at low speeds with a lower productivity. Unlike the thermal imaging technology, RSM Night Vision system identifies objects that cannot be seen by the operator.
- RSM Night Vision allows the operator to see up to 1,500m ahead at night versus customary 100 to 150m. This provides a 20% increase in the ground speed, while doubling the productivity, respectively.
- The surroundings are displayed as high contrast colour image. The unique logic employed in RSM Night Vision processes video feed and removes the flash effect. The operator can see all objects in a field and on public roads.
- The main camera of the system is locatedin the cab, therefore, the camera lens will always remain clean. Unlike a bolometer, the camera can see well through the windscreen. The system comprises a specialty camera, video processing controller and display. The image can optionally be displayed on the windscreen with a projector. The system is unique in that infrared light is produced by the standard lights available on a sprayer, tractor or combine.
